i've been promising to get this pic finished for ages...but japan got in the way ^-^! anywhosey, it is about as finished as it is going to get, i had in mind a different background but when i got back from japan my hands wouldn't cooperate with me so....:shrugs: i wanted to try and color something that looked a little less like anime....but still could be in that category...i've been playing final fantasy a lot and really tried to color hair that good. it took soooooo long. NOTHING was photoreferenced, i did spend a while on google looking at what sharks look like but i didn't end up using any of the pics, i guess that is about all.
this pic took over a week to complete, spread out of course! ^-^ hope ya like it!
I like the reflections and the coloring as well, but the anatomy seems a little off in spots. Let me say that Im jealous of how you draw hips, before I go into crit mode.
The jaw seems a little out of place. Maybe its the placement of the lips or how the jaw curves outward toward the chin that looks a little off. Suggestions are to rework the slope of the jaw or move the lips around to find which placement suits the picture (if you plan on changing anything that is). Second is her breast. Come on?! Youre a girl! Breast placement is supposed to be easier for you to draw! In this picture, the breast shown is too high up. Im not sure if thats because you wanted to avoid showing nipple (in which case, you could've lowered her arm and head and still got the same effect) if you just flat out drew it wrong and didnt realize. Suggestion is to move it down to about halfway of what ribs you have showing, if that makes sense. Lastly, her hands. Hands are always difficult to draw because they have so many different ways they can be drawn. Whats important is to not leave any joints out of the fingers. Here her fingers seem pretty long, thick, and missing one joint. If you hold your hand up and curve your fingers out, its pretty difficult to lock your finger tips out like that. Its natural for your fingers to curve when held like that. Suggestion is to add the joint, slim the fingers up, and make them not so long.
I dont know enough about sharks to offer any kind of tips, but the gills seem to be going the wrong way. Its not a bad thing to use reference. In fact, it shows that you dont know everything, but youre willing to learn. I'd rather have that in my corner and use that new found knowledge on future pictures than going into something with no knowledge of how it is and consistantly get it wrong. ^.^
Anyway, great picture! Definitely eye catching! I looked at it for almost 20 mins, just studying it before I commented! ^.^

...cool!! I think any critique i've said already to you. The shark looks really cool still....like real. You'll still have to show me that fractal trick. ^.^!!! I'm envious of your coloring still. even though I got a tablet I'm still coloring in a giant mass of color. super job though. Love youssss!!!!!!!!!
yeah....i know the anatomy is a little off to say the least, but you shoulda seen the doodle i was working with. i made the face more realistic...but the structure is still anime-ish so no matter what i do it wouldn't make the lips fit her but i understand what you were saying. the chest was just all kinds of messed up from the start! and don't let having them make you think they're eaiser to draw!!!!! not at all! .....the fingers, i did HAVE a third joint...i guess i smudged it out or something? ah well...thanks for your critique it helps bunches! the point i was trying to make about the photo reference is that erin (best friend) and my kitty (chris) didn't believe that i drew it from scratch...they were all like "copy and paste?" grrrrrr......anyways, i appriciate the comments!
